As a newcomers to Thermopolis and Hot Springs County, we see a pattern developing that is mirroring the politics of the county we fled. Gilpin Gouty Colorado is approximately 6,000 residents like HSC. During our decades long residency in Gilpin we have seen the policies go from good to government infringing on just about every right of ours. Extensive taxes, regulations galore, being neighborly to everyone for themselves, poor education. Bottom line is that the government overreach got so bad that demand others had to leave the state. Lastly, living at 9,000 feet with an average of 15 feet of snowfall is no environment for the faint of heart. If you know us, you understand. We chose Tmop because of the churches, friendly people, the Big Horn river, and of course the hot springs. We do not want to see what happened in Gilpin county happen in Tmop.
